Al-Jouf University won 4 gold and silver medals in all its participations at the 49th International Exhibition of Inventions in Geneva, held from April 17-21, 2024. The event saw the participation of 26 Saudi universities and more than 1,000 inventions from over 40 countries worldwide.
Three inventions won gold medals:
- Wasan bint Rakan Al-Anzi from the College of Science, for the invention titled "Sustainable Biofuel Production from Olives Using Catalysts Derived from Olive Waste."
- Hala bint Abdulaziz Al-Dughmi from the College of Science, for the invention titled "Reusable Nanomaterial-Embedded Membranes for Polluted Water Treatment Using Solar Energy."
- Hala bint Abdulaziz Al-Dughmi and Ahmed bin Manawer Al-Burakani from the College of Science, for the invention titled "Nano-Enhanced Electrodes Made from Iron Waste for Green Hydrogen Production."
The silver medal was awarded to Ahmed bin Manawer Al-Burakani for the invention titled "Hybrid Nano-Structured Electrodes for Water Desalination, Energy Storage, and Efficient Metal Production."
The esteemed President of Al-Jouf University, Prof. Dr. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Shaya, praised the distinguished level and active participation of the university team, comprising faculty members and students, in this global event. He commended their inventions and innovations, which brought recognition to the nation and the university. He extended his gratitude to the wise leadership, led by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, for their unlimited support of education in research, innovation, and creativity, and for fostering a scientific and research environment in Saudi universities that enables them to compete and achieve top rankings in various fields.
The university president also expressed his thanks to His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Nawaf bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Al-Jouf Region, for his keen interest in the university's activities and achievements, and to His Royal Highness Prince Meteb bin Mishaal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of Al-Jouf Region, for his support and continuous follow-up of the university's events and activities.
He also extended his gratitude to the Minister of Education, Mr. Youssef bin Abdullah Al-Bunyan, for his efforts and continuous support in the journey of excellence and distinction demonstrated by students who have raised the flag and reputation of the Kingdom at many international events and exhibitions.
The president congratulated the university, its members, and the participating team for representing the nation and the university in these international forums, which showcase the Kingdom's stature and contribute to enhancing investment in the knowledge economy, sustainable development, and achieving the goals of Vision 2030.
